How Personal Do You Like Your Mouse?

How Personal Do You Like Your Mouse?
I thought I would kill two birds with one stone today and discuss two gadgets that are of a similar nature. In this case, a product that we all love and use all the time, and you’re probably using it right now: the computer mouse. Let’s start with the Road Mice. The Road Mice are computer mice that are designed to look like the automobile that you want to drive. They are available in many models including the Ford Mustang GT, Chevy Camaro, and Dodge Charger. Each of them come in different colors with decals. They are also completely wireless and have headlights. If you really want a more personalized mouse, you should definitely go for the USB Air Flow Mouse with Scrolling LED Message. (Read the full post about ‘How Personal Do You Like Your Mouse?’…)

The Cassette Tape Closet

The Cassette Tape Closet
I’m not really sure that this should be called a makeover, but for the sake of simplicity, we’ll just call it that. This DIY job is for those that have far too many useless cassette tapes lying around. It’s understandable that some would, they were used for quite a few years, so it’d be easy to build up a large stash of them. So it’s established that there are probably quite a few people out there that could probably pull off a job like this. Especially considering it’s as simple as gluing a bunch of tapes to an already built wooden cabinet. What I question is whether or not it should be done. I, being a gadget dork, have an appreciation for outdated technology getting recycled into something new and functional. (Read the full post about ‘The Cassette Tape Closet’…)

Asus CEO announces 4 million Eee PC’s have been sold

Asus CEO announces 4 million Eee PC’s have been sold
Despite any feelings that you may have regarding netbooks, it is hard to argue against their popularity.  And if there is any doubt as to how popular they really are, you may want to ask Asus.  The whole netbook revolution is just barely one year old, and Asus CEO Jerry Shen has just given up some details on the sales figures for the Eee PC. It turns out that they have already sold nearly four million Eee PCs, and have plans to reach the five million mark by the end of 2008.  Given the lower pricing that we have been seeing lately, coupled with the never ending lineup of new models, it seems only safe to believe they will reach that goal of five million.  Of course, that belief is coming from a regular netbook user.  I cannot help but wonder how many of those four million sales came from buyers (like myself) who started with an Eee PC 701 and moved on to other models in the Eee PC lineup as they were introduced. Satellite Radio in Trouble

Written by admin on Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 in gadgets and technologies.

Satellite radio took a hit this past week as WorldSpace filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  Only two weeks ago, both Chief Operating Officers resigned.

WorldSpace is a subscription-based service that broadcasts news, sports, music and educational programming to over 150,000 people.  They charge $5.00 - $10.00 per month for their plans and provide more than 100 channels.  WorldSpace offers the only satellite radio service outside the U.S. (except Japan and South Korea).  Sirius XM is the licensed provider of satellite radio here.  Judith Pryor, Senior Vice President of Worldspace, told me that they do not expect for the U.S.

Microsoft’s SurfaceWare gets you drunk faster than drinks through a straw
by Thomas Ricker, posted Oct 22nd 2008 at 3:31AM It’s just a kooky, Surface-related R&D project for now, but Microsoft’s SurfaceWare holds the promise of optimizing your time-to-alcohol consumption ratio. Combining software with a level-sensing tumbler, SurfaceWare effectively measures the amount of liquid remaining in your glass. The specialized drinking glasses are fitted with a prism that works in combination with Surface’s infrared detecting camera to reflect light as the prism rises above the level of your emptying beverage. Surface will then alert bar staff of your need or automatically purchase another round at just the right time. You certainly don’t want to be wasting time in Vegas waiting on your disco fuel. HP annouces two RIM turf-stealing phones

HP annouces two RIM turf-stealing phones
HP phones are all business, and the latest announcement from them shows us they will stay with that focus.  While both are based on Windows Mobile 6.1 and feature a new optical gliding navigation (one upping the BB Pearl) the two phones take different form factors.  Both are geared for Europe and are available without a SIM card or as part of a Vodafone package. The two phones, the Voice Messenger, a candybar style and the Data Messenger, a horizontal slider with full QWERTY keypad look fantastic as compared to other iPaqs.  Style has finally infiltrated HP and hopes are high they’ll bring this sense to the US market.  Both phones feature Wi-Fi, HSDPA, AGPS and 3.1-megapixel camera with flash.
