Motorola Aura

Motorola Aura
I honestly don’t know if Motorola’s Aura is the most expensive cellular phone ever made, but it has got to be up there. (In keeping with tradition, I will tell you the price at the end of the article, but feel free to hit the jump if you can’t wait.) Motorola’s Aura has some very debonair features, such as the swivel design with the circular screen at the pivot. The display is really the highlight of the Aura, with 16 million colors and 300dpi resolution. The lens itself on the screen is a 1.62 carat sapphire crystal, but that isn’t all the bling this Aura sports. Apparently, the textured pattern that you see takes about two weeks to sculpt, and the finish is the type used on expensive wristwatches. (Read the full post about ‘Motorola Aura’…)

Motorola ROKR E8 Review - Gizmodo

Motorola ROKR E8 Review - Gizmodo
Gizmodo reviews the Motorola ROKR E8 and writes, “Long story short, the hardware is great, the music interface is decent, the T-Mobile interface sucks. But let’s start with the good. Not only do I like build quality, and how the button layout changes according to the phone’s function, I also like that the haptic feedback really feels like the phone has buttons (Herrman is still convinced there aren’t haptics). As a music player, the capacitive ring and menu system give it an ipod sort of feel, which is nice. It’s pretty easy to use, and doesn’t suffer from much lag. Syncing with Windows Media Player is a relatively painless process, but that means it’s also Windows only (Mac Users have to transfer files via MicroSD, ugh).” Read more about the Motorola ROKR E8. The MK V Shutter Watch

The MK V Shutter Watch
If you’re going to buy a watch anymore it has to be an unusual one that catches your eye to make it worth it.  Let’s face it, it’s not really necessary to wear a watch anymore.  We have plenty of other gadgets that have fifteen other functions, one of which being to tell the time.  Well this MK V watch is definitely eye catching enough to make it an interesting piece to wear on your wrist.  The down side is that you have to press a button to open the shutter that covers the watch face.  Yet is that any worse really than tapping the screen of your iphone to check the time? iBangle puts the iPod on the wrist

iBangle puts the iPod on the wrist
When it comes to iPods and other MP3 players, not much has changed about them in the past few years. Sure, the memory is getting better all the time, but the design is the same: they clip on the belt and the obligatory wired earplugs. This iBangle design concept is a little bit daring as the design fits right on your wrist instead of clipping to your belt. Don’t let its loose look fool you, the iBangle won’t easily slip off like other “clip-on” MP3 players. Apparently, that tiny blue button that you see in the illustration somehow fills the blue area with air, so it fits snug, but hopefully not too snug. As for the earphones, forget about it! The audio sound is transmitted via wireless earbuds. (Read the full post about ‘iBangle puts the iPod on the wrist’…)

Philips 42PFL9803 Review

Written by admin on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 in gadgets and technologies.

We have written about the 42-inch LED backlit Philips 42PFL9803 before, when it was announced at this years IFA.  Shortly after this announcement it went on to win EISA’s award for the best European LCD HDTV.

A key feature to the 42PFL9803 is it’s Lux LED backlight system, which allows it to deliver even deeper black levels and high contrast ratios, given it the best ever seen on a LCD HDTV.

Cover your monitor the Martha Stewart way

Written by admin on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 in gadgets and technologies.

I’ve mentioned before that my love of clever crafts far exceeds my ability to execute them, but I am still always entranced by the inventive and the pretty.

As someone who sometimes needs a lot of encouragment to log off (”but I wanted to check my email one last time” may well end up as my epitaph) these cute and (if you’re not me) easy to make monitor cover (or as Martha Stewart calls them: TV Cozies) caught my eye. When work is done for the day, I’ll slip one of these onto my monitor and go… slump in front of the TV, probably. Baby steps.

Ultrasonic Eyeglasses Cleaner

Ultrasonic Eyeglasses Cleaner
Womenfolk often have their little stash hidden away just in case of emergencies, and this stash consists of jewelry and other family jewels. Necklaces and rings are nice to look at, but they ought to be cleaned from time to time to look at their pristine best. Hammacher has a device that not only does that, but helps keep your eyeglasses spic and span as well with the Ultrasonic Eyeglasses Cleaner. This is the eyeglasses cleaner that uses 42,000 Hz of ultrasonic sound waves to remove dirt and dust particles without manual scrubbing or harsh chemicals. Its wide 25-oz. stainless-steel tank (for proper sound wave impedance) holds two pair of eyeglasses and completely detaches from the unit for easy filling under a sink using plain tap water. Toshiba gets serious with $4k Qosmio X305-Q708 gaming laptop
by Darren Murph, posted Oct 21st 2008 at 10:32AM Look out, Alienware / Voodoo — a formidable opponent just rolled in, and it appears that some prankster stuck a Toshiba logo on whatever machine is hiding underneath.
