The Bowling pin Knock-off Lamp
If you’ve managed to get yourself beyond needing bumpers whenever you go bowling, you might have grown into having a  slight fascination for bowling.  Well if you have become a bowling guru, then you might enjoy this odd little lamp.  It’s not everyday that one walks into someone’s living room to find a glowing bowling pin, but now you can pick up your own.  It doesn’t look quite as beat up as one you would find in the bowling alley.  Instead it has a slight modern edge to it, with it’s classic bright white look to it. USB Volume Slide Controller: Control at your fingertips

USB Volume Slide Controller: Control at your fingertips
For some reason, I can’t help but think of the song “Slide” by the Goo Goo Dolls when I saw this next product. Maybe it’s because the USB Volume Slide Controller is slide controlled, and I needed a good intro to this article. The USB Volume Slide Controller plugs into the USB port, and then it can affix to the side of your computer or laptop. The point of it is to have some sort of volume control at your fingertips that is controlled by your fingertips. Slide it up to turn the volume up, or down to turn it down. Pretty simple, right? It can be turned off or on by simply touching it and holding it down for about two seconds. Think of it as a handy mute button. UK Govt planning e-mail/phone Big Brother system

Written by admin on Thursday, October 16th, 2008 in gadgets and technologies.

The thing that we were afraid of not too long ago (the FBI’s Carnivore program), is coming up in the UK now. The UK Home Secretary is proposing a similar system that would track times and dates of messages and phone calls. Needless to say, it’s experiencing a great deal of resistance.

Motorola Krave ZN4 review roundup
by Darren Murph, posted Oct 15th 2008 at 9:43AM We had a feeling we’d get a mixed bag of reviews as soon as we first saw the Motorola Krave ZN4 — it’s one of those love it or hate it type things, you know? In some cases, reviewers chose to focus on the positives, noting that it was cute, unique, a good music player and a phone that would last and last without a recharge. Another batch of critics couldn’t hold back the whip, pointing out that it lacked WiFi, packed a lackluster browser, included yawn-worthy software and offered a keyboard that was “straight-up awkward.” As expected, overall ratings hovered between just below average to just above average, and it seems this phone will be exactly what you make it out to be. DarthCast looks sweet

DarthCast looks sweet
I certainly did not bet on seeing a portable version of the Dreamcast eight years ago, but today we have super powerful handheld consoles like the Sony PSP and its less technologically proficient DS Lite rival which far outstripped the home consoles of the 1990s in terms of processing power. What happens when you want to get your defunct Dreamcast up and running in a portable form factor? Sega certainly won’t open its doors for you to enter into its R&D labs, leaving you to do things for yourself. Enter hailrazer who has taken his Dreamcast and churned it into a portable form factor known as the DarthCast, thanks to the Lazer Doodle shell. It has a battery life of three hours and uses a PSOne LCD display. (Read the full post about ‘DarthCast looks sweet’…)

Microsoft survey hints at Instant On OS concept
by Darren Murph, posted Oct 15th 2008 at 8:06AM Hmm, what have we here? A recent Microsoft survey sent out to select users has us wondering what on Earth the mega-corp is planning to do next, and judging by the looks of things, it has everything to do with Instant On. We’ve seen a number of these lightning-fast boot applications, with the most recent being ASUS’ Splashtop OS and the iteration loaded onto Dell’s freshest Latitudes. The survey makes mention that the “Instant On experience is different from ‘Full Windows’ because it limits what activities you can do and what applications you have access to.” The survey also asks about which applications would be most important to have quick access to, and it very plainly states that in this “scenario,” your PC would “be usable in eight seconds.” So, is Instant On coming to Windows?
